Artificial Intelligence, commonly referred simply as ‘AI’, is a hot topic, so it should be no surprise that someone used an AI interface to form a worship service. Using a chatbot – AI that creates written material – a theologian in Austria hosted a worship service complete with artificially created faces, voices, and of course, a sermon. It may be silly, but it is indeed quite real. How can churches use (and avoid abusing) chatbots in their worship practices? Should they be used at all?
